Beowulf Dragon Traveler Build & Guide
King of the Wild Hunt
Overview
Beowulf is an SSR Warrior from Otherworld Return and Arcane Wisdom and one of the few melee units that deals magic damage. Beowulf survives the first fatal hit, then fights on with 60% more Attack Speed, and every ally Overdrive triggers an extra Hammer Time. A filler for Arcane and Otherworld teams with good guild boss damage.

Our Take on Beowulf
Beowulf sits in our T4, a role player rather than a core pick. The kit has two hooks. Infinite Strength gains an Awakening stack each time an ally uses an Overdrive and spends it at once on an extra Hammer Time, and talent node 4 cuts Beowulf's next Overdrive cost by 1 for every Hammer Time cast. In a team that casts often, that loop keeps both skills cycling. Undead Glory lets Beowulf survive the first fatal hit with 60-100% of Max HP restored and 60% more Attack Speed, at the cost of losing 10% of Max HP per second afterwards. Expect solid boss damage and filler duty in two Trial Realms, not a main carry.
Strengths
- +Every ally Overdrive grants an extra Hammer Time cast, and at talent node 4 each cast lowers Beowulf's next Overdrive cost by 1.
- +Hammer Time hits for 320-640% of Attack and steals 7% Magic Defense per hit, stacking 5 times against non-boss targets.
- +Undead Glory blocks the first fatal hit, restores 60-100% of Max HP and adds 60% Attack Speed.
- +Unbreakable Form grants a shield of 5-10% of Max HP per enemy hit by skills, plus 2% more per Death Rattle stack.
Weaknesses
- −After the revive Beowulf loses 10% of Max HP per second, so the second life is short without Death Rattle stacks or lifesteal.
- −The Magic Defense steal does not work on bosses, which removes part of the damage in the mode where Beowulf is most used.
- −Hammer Time only becomes area damage at 5 Death Rattle stacks, and only with talent node 7.
- −No example teams are built around Beowulf; it fills a slot rather than defining one.
How to Play Beowulf
Put Beowulf in the front row with the other melee units. The kit wants many allied Overdrives: each one gives an Awakening stack that Infinite Strength spends at once on an extra Hammer Time, and each Hammer Time lowers the cost of Beowulf's next Dark Rising. In a team that cycles Overdrives quickly, Beowulf casts both skills far more often than their cooldowns suggest. Cast Dark Rising when enemies are grouped. It hits a large circle for 330-450% of Attack and keeps pulsing for 110-150% every 2 seconds for 8 seconds, and every enemy a skill hits adds to Unbreakable Form's shield. The revive from Undead Glory comes with a drain of 10% of Max HP per second. Each Death Rattle stack slows that drain by 3%, so Beowulf lasts longer in Otherworld teams where allies fall. The level 6 divinity, Life's Desire, gives Hammer Time 20% Lifesteal and is the best way to stretch the second life. Otherworld Attack at level 2 adds 12% Attack whenever a Death Rattle stack arrives. Against guild bosses, Sword Master's stacking Defense and Resistance cut on a single target pairs well with Beowulf's repeated Hammer Time hits, as long as you do not switch targets. In Holy King Contest one-minute duels, the revive buys time. In regular PvP, Beowulf is usually outclassed.
Good Teammates
- Atanith (SSR) – Atanith shares Arcane Wisdom, cuts the Cursed Domain target's Magic Defense by 20-44% for Hammer Time, and grants extra Lifesteal against that target to offset the post-revive drain.
- Azure Dragon (SSR+) – Azure Dragon shares both factions and its shields grant Death Rattle stacks, each slowing Beowulf's post-revive HP loss by 3% and adding 2% to Unbreakable Form's shield.
- Cleopatra (SSR) – Cleopatra shares both factions and fills the field with Mummies built to die, a steady source of the ally defeats that give Beowulf Death Rattle.
- Scheherazade (SSR+) – Scheherazade's Blessed Boon makes team Overdrives cheaper, and every extra ally Overdrive gives Beowulf another Hammer Time.
Keywords in brackets are explained in the status effect glossary.
Should You Invest?
Beowulf is a later star investment, worth building only for Arcane Wisdom and Otherworld Return depth or guild boss damage. Talent node 7, which turns Hammer Time into area damage at 5 Death Rattle stacks, is the main late upgrade. For divinity, take Otherworld Attack at level 2, Health Enhancement at 3 and 5, Otherworld Physical Defense at 4, and Life's Desire at 6. The listed relic is Star Crystal Greatsword, gear is the HP set with a Bloodthirst weapon and Evade accessory, and Sword Master is the subclass. Free-to-play players should spend on core units first.
Beowulf FAQ
- Is Beowulf worth building?
- Only as a filler for Arcane Wisdom or Otherworld Return teams, or for guild boss damage. Beowulf is T4 in our list and does not carry teams, but the extra Hammer Time casts from ally Overdrives give steady single-target magic damage.
- How does Beowulf's revive work?
- The first time Beowulf takes fatal damage, Undead Glory restores 60-100% of Max HP and grants 60% Attack Speed, but Beowulf then loses 10% of Max HP every second. Each Death Rattle stack slows that loss by 3%, and Life's Desire's 20% Lifesteal on Hammer Time helps offset it.
- Why use Sword Master on Beowulf?
- Sword Master reduces the target's Defense and Resistance by 1.8-2.7% with every basic attack or skill, up to 18-27%, and the stacks clear when you switch targets. Beowulf hits one target repeatedly with Hammer Time, so the stacks stay up, especially on bosses.
