Dragon Traveler Gear Sets Guide: Every Set, Bonus and Best Build
All 28 Dragon Traveler gear sets in recommended builds: piece names, set bonuses, which units want each set, and the most common gear builds for every class.

Quick answer: Carries mostly run the Penetration weapon (Last Whisper) and the Judgment accessory (Eagle Warrior Portrait) with four Crit Damage or Attack armor pieces. Priests and utility units run four Haste pieces with the Arcane weapon and accessory, and Guardians stack HP, often with the Longevity talisman. Those three patterns account for about half of the 184 recommended builds.
Key takeaways
- A slot's base stats are the same whatever the set, so the set bonus is the only thing you are choosing.
- The most common build in the game is four Haste pieces plus the Arcane pair (25 builds), followed by Penetration plus Judgment with four Crit Damage pieces (21).
- Watch the names: the "Arcane" helmet, robe, gauntlets and boots belong to the Haste set. The Arcane set is the Tome of Stars weapon plus the Starlight Magisterium accessory.
- Arcane cuts Overdrive Energy cost by 1; Energy gives +1 Overdrive Point at the start. Arcane is for units that cast often, Energy for units whose first cast matters most.
- Several sets cut one stat to raise another (Longevity, Impact, Swift Strike). Read both halves before equipping.
How gear works
Each Luminary wears six pieces: Headgear, Chestplate, Bracers and Boots (the armor), plus a Weapon and an Accessory.
The base stats depend on the slot, not the set. Every recommended piece shows the same values for its slot:
| Slot | Main stats on the recommended pieces |
|---|---|
| Headgear | HP 11,810, Magic Defense 363 |
| Chestplate | HP 9,993, Physical Defense 726 |
| Bracers | Attack 1,162, Physical Defense 363 |
| Boots | Attack 981, Magic Defense 726 |
| Weapon | Attack 1,090, Physical Defense 545 |
| Accessory | HP 10,900, Magic Defense 545 |
So a Paladin's Helmet and a Flamelord's Helmet give the same base HP and Magic Defense. What changes is the set bonus. Bonuses are listed with a 1-piece or 2-piece threshold; check the item in game for how a bonus grows with more pieces of the same set.
Sets come in four shapes: armor sets (the four armor slots, and in two cases a weapon or accessory too), single weapons, single accessories, and weapon plus accessory pairs.
Armor sets
| Set | Pieces | Bonus | Who wants it | Luminaries using it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Haste | Arcane Hood, Arcane Robe, Arcane Gauntlets, Arcane Boots | 2-piece: +10 Haste | Priests and utility units that win by casting often | 33 |
| HP | Flamelord's Helmet, Armor, Gauntlets, Boots (and Flamelord's Sword) | 1-piece: +10% HP | Guardians, Warriors and HP-scaling supports | 31 |
| Attack | Dragon Hunter Helmet, Armor, Gauntlets, Boots (and Dragonblood Seal) | 1-piece: +10% Attack | Carries without a strong crit source | 28 |
| Crit Damage | Paladin's Helmet, Armor, Gauntlets, Boots | 2-piece: +18% Crit Damage | Carries that already crit often | 25 |
| Attack Speed | Night Owl Mask, Armor, Gauntlets, Boots | 2-piece: +13% Attack Speed | Basic-attack Archers and duelists | 11 |
| Crit | Ranger's Feathered Hat, Leather Armor, Gloves, Boots | 2-piece: +200 Crit | Units with crit-triggered effects | 6 |
| Block | Valiant Helmet, Armor, Vambraces, Boots | 2-piece: +200 Block | Block tanks | 4 |
| Magic Defense | Sage's Crown, Robe, Gloves, Boots | 1-piece: +10% Magic Defense | Tanks facing mage-heavy teams | 2 |
| Crit Resist | Cursed Helmet, Robe, Gauntlets, Boots | 2-piece: +200 Crit Resist | Tanks facing crit carries | 1 |
| Physical Defense | Quenched Helmet, Armor, Gauntlets, Boots | 1-piece: +10% Physical Defense | Tanks facing physical teams | 1 |
The big four armor sets are Haste, HP, Attack and Crit Damage. The others are specialist picks: Block for Athena, Dvalin, Salome and Xuanwu; Crit Resist for Helveil; and the two defense sets for Caesar, who also mixes them two and two.
Crit Damage and Crit pull in opposite directions. The Crit Damage set suits units that already crit from their kit, subclass or team. The Crit set suits units whose effects trigger on crits, such as Ifrit with the Light Ranger subclass, or Jing, whose talent turns half her Crit into Crit Damage.
Weapons
| Set | Weapon | Bonus | Who wants it | Luminaries using it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Penetration | Last Whisper | +20% Attack, ignores 12% Physical and Magic Defense per attack (stacks to 40%) | Almost every damage dealer | 38 |
| Magic | Touch of the Undying Flame | +32% magic damage dealt | Magic-damage Mages | 7 |
| Bloodthirst | Bloodseeker Sword | +20% Attack, +8% Lifesteal | Self-sustaining bruisers | 4 |
| Cleave | Typhon's Wrath | Basic attacks deal 64% of Attack as area physical damage (cannot crit) | Basic-attack units | 3 |
| Demon Slayer | Curseblade | +24% Magic Defense, +8% Attack Speed | Tanks | 3 |
| Impact | Ship Slayer | +40% Attack, -16% Attack Speed | Attack-scaling casters | 2 |
| Frenzy | Phantom Blade | +16% Attack Speed, +120 Crit | Basic-attack duelists | 1 |
| Swift Strike | Invincible Meow-Meow Fist | +32% Attack Speed, -20% Attack | Basic-attack duelists | 1 |
Last Whisper is the default carry weapon because it gives both Attack and defense ignore. The Magic weapon is the alternative for Mages like Gabriel, Loki, Talos and Vermilion Bird, and every one of them also has a Last Whisper build.
Ship Slayer is a good example of reading a trade-off. Its -16% Attack Speed only touches basic attacks, so for Vivienne, whose healing and possession bonus scale on her Attack, it is pure gain. Her build is five Attack pieces plus Ship Slayer. Hades is the other user.
The two Attack Speed weapons belong to Rin, whose builds both stack the Night Owl Attack Speed set.
Accessories
| Set | Accessory | Bonus | Who wants it | Luminaries using it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Judgment | Eagle Warrior Portrait | +12 Haste, +20% Overdrive damage | Damage dealers | 36 |
| Longevity | Spirit Turtle Talisman | +40% HP, -16% Attack | Pure tanks | 10 |
| Evade | Blessing of the Sacred Tree | +20% HP, +120 Dodge | Bruisers and tanks | 6 |
| Purge | Moonlight Flask | +24% Magic Defense, +12% Healing Received | Front-line damage dealers | 2 |
| Thorns | Thorns of Rejection | +24% Physical Defense, +8% Counter Damage | Tanks | 1 |
Judgment pairs naturally with Last Whisper. Together they appear in most carry builds, giving Attack, defense ignore, Haste and Overdrive damage in two slots.
Longevity is only for units whose own damage does not matter, since it costs 16% Attack. All ten users are Guardians. The Purge accessory appears on Hitomi and Tyrfing, two front-line damage Warriors, where it adds Magic Defense and Healing Received without touching their Attack.
Weapon and accessory pairs
| Set | Pieces | 2-piece bonus | Who wants it | Luminaries using it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Arcane | Tome of Stars, Starlight Magisterium | +15% HP, Overdrive Energy cost -1 | Units that cast Overdrives often | 34 |
| Energy | Mana's Tide, Mana's Tear | +20% HP, +1 initial Overdrive Point | Units whose opening cast decides the fight | 14 |
| Order | Gate of Truth, Truth Seeker's Emblem | +24% Physical and Magic Defense, -24% debuff duration | Tanks facing control | 4 |
| Rage | Dragonslayer Greatsword, Dragonslayer's Guide | +20% Attack Speed, +25% Rage regen | Units that enter Wild through Rage | 2 |
| Focus | Silver Sword of Demon Hunting, Wolf's Will | +24% Attack Speed, +240 Hit | Attack-speed Assassins | 1 |
Arcane and Energy both add HP, and both touch Overdrives. The difference is timing. Arcane makes every Overdrive cheaper, so it suits Priests and supports that cast over and over. Energy gives one extra point at the start, so the team's first Overdrives come sooner. Azure Dragon, Chiron and Arthur all list it first.
Order is the anti-control pair. Prometheus switches to it at full stars, and Caesar, Heidren and Helveil list it too. Rage is for Siegfried and Nanalie, and Focus is Zagreus's first build.

Builds by class
Guardians. The default is HP: five Flamelord's pieces with the Longevity talisman, as on Anubis, Drasill and Oberonnie, or four HP pieces with the Arcane pair for tanks who also need their Overdrive. Block tanks swap the armor to Valiant. Haste plus Arcane shows up on Guardians with important active skills, like Prometheus at Red 1★ and Xuanwu.
Warriors. Split between survivors and damage. Ares, Arthur, Guna and Azure Dragon open with four HP pieces and the Energy pair. Damage Warriors like Tyrfing, Hitomi and Marylis use Penetration with Attack, Crit or Attack Speed armor. Thor, Asmodeus and Beowulf use Bloodthirst for Lifesteal.
Assassins. Mostly four Crit Damage pieces with Penetration and Judgment. The exceptions are utility Assassins: Lilith, Nemesis and Mordred list Haste plus Arcane first.
Archers. Penetration and Judgment almost always, with the armor chosen by kit: Crit Damage for most, Attack Speed for Sharpshooter basic-attackers like Orion, and Crit for Ifrit and Jing. Artemis is the odd one out, with a Haste plus Arcane support build first.
Mages. Damage Mages run Crit Damage or Attack armor with Penetration or the Magic weapon, plus Judgment. Support Mages such as Gullveig and Cleopatra run Haste with Arcane or Energy. Loki switches between the two depending on star level.
Priests. Haste plus Arcane is the norm, used by Hela, Morgana, Atanith and others. HP-scaling healers like Venus have an HP alternative, and Vivienne is the Attack exception.
How to choose a set
- Start from the class default. The table above covers most units.
- Check what the kit scales from. HP-based shields and heals want HP sets; Attack-based ones want Attack.
- Match Crit Damage to a crit source. Without one, take the Attack set.
- Pick Arcane or Energy by timing. Many casts: Arcane. One decisive opener: Energy.
- Use specialist sets for PvP. Order, Crit Resist and the defense sets answer specific enemy teams.

FAQ
What is the best gear set for damage dealers?
Last Whisper (Penetration) plus the Eagle Warrior Portrait (Judgment) with four Crit Damage pieces is the most common carry build. Take four Attack pieces instead if the unit has no reliable crit source.
Which gear should Priests use?
Usually four Haste pieces (Arcane Hood, Robe, Gauntlets and Boots) with the Arcane pair, Tome of Stars and Starlight Magisterium. It is the most common build in the game, listed 25 times.
What is the difference between the Arcane and Energy sets?
Both are weapon plus accessory pairs that add HP. Arcane gives +15% HP and cuts Overdrive Energy cost by 1. Energy gives +20% HP and +1 Overdrive Point at the start of battle.
Do gear sets change a piece's base stats?
No. Every recommended piece in a slot shows the same base stats, for example HP 11,810 and Magic Defense 363 on headgear. The set only changes the bonus.
When should a Guardian use the Longevity talisman?
When its own damage does not matter. Longevity gives +40% HP but cuts Attack by 16%. All ten Luminaries that list it are Guardians.
How many gear sets are there?
The recommended builds use 28 sets: 10 armor sets, 8 weapons, 5 accessories and 5 weapon and accessory pairs, counting the Attack and HP sets once even though each also has an extra piece outside the armor slots.
