Our Take on Cerberus

Cerberus is an SSR Illusion Veil Mage that fires triple-hit fire skills and taxes the enemy's Overdrive energy. The catch is Dormancy Cycle: after 5 skill casts he becomes dormant and each skill fires only one projectile instead of three.

Strengths

  • +Dormancy Cycle grants a 24% Attack boost, and level 3 adds another 15%.
  • +Doomflare's three fireballs increase enemy Overdrive costs by 1, and Blazemark adds 42% Attack damage against enemies holding 4+ Overdrive energy.
  • +Level 2 makes Doomflare apply ignite, and level 4 makes elemental reactions raise the target's next Overdrive cost by 1.
  • +Level 7 lets Doomflare reset dormancy when the enemy has 7+ energy.

Weaknesses

  • โˆ’After 5 skill casts every skill is weakened to a single hit, and only level 7 offers a way to reset this.
  • โˆ’The in-game text gives no base damage numbers for Doomflare, Candle of Oblivion, or Cataclysm.
  • โˆ’Candle of Oblivion targets random enemies, so it cannot be aimed at a priority target.

How to Play Cerberus

Cerberus sits in the back row. Front-load his damage: his first five casts are at full strength, so line them up with fights that matter. Doomflare is the key skill because it raises enemy Overdrive costs and, at level 2, applies ignite. Level 7 is the most important talent because it is the only way to clear dormancy, and it rewards keeping enemy energy high, which his own cost increases help with. Level 4 adds more cost pressure through elemental reactions.

Good Teammates

  • Kleina (SR) โ€“ Kleina's Soul Reaper punishes enemies who use Overdrives costing 4 or more, and Cerberus's Doomflare raises enemy Overdrive costs.
  • Buck (SR) โ€“ Buck's Arsonist gives 42% Attack against [Ignite] targets, and Cerberus's level 2 Doomflare applies ignite.
  • Van Helsing (SSR) โ€“ Van Helsing's level 2 adds 20% Attack against enemies with 4+ energy, the same condition as Blazemark.

Keywords in brackets are explained in the status effect glossary.

Should You Invest?

Cerberus is SSR and rated T3 here. He is mostly a project for players who enjoy energy-denial teams; his dormancy mechanic makes him weaker in long fights unless you reach talent level 7.

Cerberus FAQ

What is Cerberus's dormant state?
After 5 skill casts, Dormancy Cycle weakens all his skills so Doomflare, Candle of Oblivion, and Cataclysm each fire only one projectile. The text does not say how long it lasts.
How do you reset Cerberus's dormancy?
At talent level 7, Doomflare resets dormancy when the enemy has 7+ energy.
