Vermilion Bird Skills

Brahma's Fire Dance

S1 · Overdrive · 20s cooldown

Releases a fiery tornado, dealing magic damage equal to 53.6-75.2% of Attack 10 times to enemies within a large circular area and applying Burn 3 times.

As the tornado ends, it deals additional magic damage equal to 268-376% of Attack and minor knockback to enemies within the area.

This skill can trigger the Punishment effect (up to 1 time per target), and when triggering the Punishment effect, it additionally applies 3 stacks of Scorching Sun.

Flameshadow Rune

S2 · Ultimate Skill · 9s cooldown

Wields a rune, dealing magic damage equal to 560-840% of own Attack to enemy units within a small circular area and increases the Energy Cost of their next Overdrive by 1.

When this skill deals damage to targets in the Scorching Sun status, it additionally deals magic damage equal to 280-420% of own Attack multiplied by the target's Scorching Sun stacks.

Revitalizing Feather Fan

S3 · Secret Skill

Flameshadow Rune and Nirvanic Rebirth have a 50% chance to inflict Burn on the enemy before dealing damage.

Has an Energy limit of 9. Each time an ally triggers Elemental Reaction, gains 1 Energy. When at full Energy, upon triggering Detonation or Evaporation, sacrifices 50% of current HP to deal magic damage equal to 1280-2240% of Attack to the target affected by the reaction.

Nirvanic Rebirth

S4 · Special Skill

When taking fatal damage, if Energy is full, consumes all Energy to become immune to damage for 2 seconds and transforms into Egg Form. Recovers 100% of Max HP over 5 seconds, then exits Egg Form, dealing magic damage equal to 1200-2000% of Attack to all enemy units. (Can trigger only once every 15 seconds.)

While in Egg Form, reduces damage taken from ranged Luminaries by 1000% and gains Control Immunity.

Ranges such as 340-520% show the value at skill level 1 and at max level. Keywords are explained in the glossary.

Our Take on Vermilion Bird

Vermilion Bird is T0 in our list and the strongest Elemental Echo carry right now. The kit turns teammates' Elemental Reactions into damage. Each ally reaction adds 1 Energy toward a cap of 9, each Detonation or Evaporation on an enemy adds a Scorching Sun stack worth 18-30% Bonus Damage, and Flameshadow Rune deals 280-420% of Attack extra per Scorching Sun stack. At full Energy, the next Detonation or Evaporation triggers a 1280-2240% hit, and Nirvanic Rebirth can turn a fatal blow into a full heal and a 1200-2000% blast to all enemies. The catch is setup: Vermilion Bird needs reaction-heavy teammates. It performs well even without the exclusive relic.

Strengths

  • +Scorching Sun stacks from teammates' Detonations and Evaporations add 18-30% Bonus Damage each and multiply Flameshadow Rune's extra damage.
  • +At full Energy, Revitalizing Feather Fan turns a Detonation or Evaporation into a 1280-2240% of Attack hit on the affected target.
  • +Nirvanic Rebirth blocks a fatal hit, heals 100% of Max HP over 5 seconds and hits all enemies for 1200-2000% of Attack, at most once every 15 seconds.
  • +Brahma's Fire Dance applies Burn 3 times, adds 3 Scorching Sun stacks on Punishment, and at talent node 7 pulls enemies together.

Weaknesses

  • −Without reaction-heavy teammates, Energy and Scorching Sun stacks build slowly and the damage drops a lot.
  • −The full-Energy reaction hit costs 50% of current HP, which can leave Vermilion Bird exposed if Nirvanic Rebirth is not ready.
  • −The strongest example teams need manual play to sequence Morgana, Vermilion Bird, Thor and Zagreus.

How to Play Vermilion Bird

Vermilion Bird works from the back row of an Elemental Echo team. Everything depends on allies triggering Elemental Reactions: each one gives 1 Energy, and Detonations and Evaporations leave Scorching Sun stacks on enemies. Teams pair Vermilion Bird with Morgana, who applies Cold whenever an ally applies Burn or Shock, Thor for Shock and Detonations, Zagreus for Cold, and Poseidon, whose skills all inflict Cold. Overdrive order matters. Some example teams open with Vermilion Bird so Brahma's Fire Dance applies Burn and gathers enemies; others open with Morgana so the Cold is waiting for the Burn. One manual line opens with Morgana, then Vermilion Bird, Thor and Zagreus, and keeps cycling. Flameshadow Rune, on a 9-second cooldown, should land on targets that already carry Scorching Sun stacks. Watch the Energy bar. At 9 Energy, the next Detonation or Evaporation spends 50% of current HP for the big hit, and the same full Energy is what Nirvanic Rebirth consumes to survive a fatal blow. Life Flows Eternal at divinity level 6 starts the battle with full Energy, so the rebirth is available from the first second. Elemental Haste at divinity level 4 speeds up casts after each reaction. In PvP, Egg Form ignores control and takes 1000% less damage from ranged Luminaries, so ranged-heavy enemy teams struggle to finish Vermilion Bird off.

Good Teammates

  • Morgana (SSR+) – During her Overdrive Morgana applies Cold whenever an ally applies Burn or Shock, turning Vermilion Bird's Burns into reactions, and talent node 4 restores Overdrive Points on reactions.
  • Thor (SSR EX) – Thor's Shock and frequent Detonations feed Energy and Scorching Sun stacks, and the two share Elemental Echo.
  • Zagreus (SSR+) – Zagreus applies Cold and cuts its own Overdrive costs on team reactions, giving Vermilion Bird's Burn a partner element in the same Elemental Echo lineups.
  • Poseidon (SSR EX) – Poseidon shares both factions, inflicts Cold with every skill and deals extra damage whenever a reaction triggers.
  • Dvalin (SSR+) – Dvalin tanks for Vermilion Bird in Elemental Echo example teams and adds Burn chances in Wild, keeping the reaction count high.

Keywords in brackets are explained in the status effect glossary.

Should You Invest?

Vermilion Bird is a high star priority for Elemental Echo players. Take Elemental Attack at divinity level 2, Attack Enhancement at 3, Elemental Haste at 4, Haste Enhancement at 5 and Life Flows Eternal at 6 for a battle-start rebirth. Gear is the Haste set with the Magic weapon and Judgment accessory, or the Crit Damage and Attack sets. Elementalist is the subclass, adding 26-35% of Attack per debuff on the target. The exclusive Vermilion Bird Feather Fan is a pure damage upgrade that changes little about play, so it is optional. Free-to-play Elemental Echo players should make Vermilion Bird their main carry.

Vermilion Bird FAQ

Is Vermilion Bird worth pulling?
Yes for Elemental Echo players. Vermilion Bird is in our T0 and is the Elemental team's main carry, strong even without the exclusive relic. It also appears in Illusion Veil teams alongside Artemis.
Do I need the Vermilion Bird Feather Fan?
No. It raises AoE Bonus Damage by 28% and adds damage to Nirvanic Rebirth, but it does not change how the unit plays, and the kit performs well without it.
What team does Vermilion Bird need?
Reaction makers. Morgana, Thor, Zagreus and Poseidon appear in most example teams, with Salome or Dvalin as tank. Each ally reaction gives Energy, and Detonations and Evaporations stack Scorching Sun.
How does Nirvanic Rebirth work?
When Vermilion Bird takes fatal damage with full Energy, all Energy is spent for 2 seconds of damage immunity and Egg Form, which heals 100% of Max HP over 5 seconds. Leaving the egg deals 1200-2000% of Attack to all enemies. It can trigger at most once every 15 seconds.
