Quick answer: Divinity gives each Luminary six levels of nodes. Levels 1 and 6 are fixed, and levels 2 to 5 offer a choice between two nodes. The stats on offer depend on the Luminary's class, the trigger on the level 2 and 4 nodes depends on one of its factions, and level 6 is always a signature upgrade to one of its own skills.

Key takeaways

  • Every class has a fixed Divinity template. All Mages, for example, choose between Attack and Crit at level 2 and between Crit and Haste at level 5.
  • Levels 2 and 4 are timed faction nodes: a stat bonus that switches on when a faction keyword fires, such as Punishment for Illusion Veil or entering Wild for Wild Spirit.
  • Trigger windows differ a lot by faction. Wild Spirit and Illusion Veil level 2 nodes last 8 seconds, while Arcane Wisdom nodes last only 2.
  • Each Luminary uses only one of its two factions for Divinity, and it is not always the one you would guess. Venus runs on Wild Spirit, Vivienne on Elemental Echo.
  • Pick the stat the kit scales from. Shield and heal Priests scale on HP or Attack, and Crit nodes only pay off when Crit Damage or crit effects are in the build.

What Divinity is

Divinity is the late-game upgrade layer that sits on top of a Luminary's star tiers. Each Luminary has six levels:

  • Level 1: one fixed node, either +5% Attack or +5% HP.
  • Levels 2 and 4: a choice between two timed faction nodes.
  • Levels 3 and 5: a choice between two permanent stat nodes.
  • Level 6: one fixed node that upgrades a named skill or talent, unique to that Luminary.

Some recommendations reach past Diamond and name Divinity 3, usually together with an exclusive relic. Those relics list their own bonus lines at Purple 6, Red 6 and Divinity 3. See the star-up guide for the copy and fodder side of that climb.

The class templates

The stats on offer depend on class alone. This holds for every Luminary with Divinity data, 75 of them.

Class Level 1 Level 2 (timed) Level 3 Level 4 (timed) Level 5
Guardian HP 5% Crit Resist 250 or Block 250 HP 7% or Magic Defense 10% Magic Defense 16% or Haste 12 HP 7% or Block 150
Warrior HP 5% Attack 12% or Break 250 HP 7% or Crit Resist 150 Physical Defense 16% or Crit Resist 250 HP 7% or Break 150
Assassin Attack 5% Attack 12% or Crit Damage 16% Attack 7% or Crit 150 Crit Damage 16% or Attack 12% Attack 7% or HP 7%
Archer Attack 5% Attack 12% or Attack Speed 16% Attack 7% or Crit 150 Crit 250 or Attack 12% Attack Speed 10% or Magic Defense 10%
Mage Attack 5% Attack 12% or Crit 250 Attack 7% or Physical Defense 10% Attack 12% or Haste 12 Crit 150 or Haste 7
Priest HP 5% Magic Defense 16% or Haste 12 HP 7% or Crit Resist 150 Attack 12% or Haste 12 HP 7% or Physical Defense 10%

For what these numbers mean in practice (150 Crit is 10% crit rate, 250 Block is about 15% block chance), see the stats guide.

The faction triggers

The level 2 and 4 nodes are named after a faction ("Illusion Attack", "Wild Haste", "Sanctum Block") and fire on that faction's keyword. Level 2 nodes react to something the Luminary does or receives itself. Level 4 nodes react to the team.

Faction Level 2 trigger Level 2 duration Level 4 trigger Level 4 duration Luminaries using it
Sanctum Glory Receiving a Blessing Buff 4s An ally enters Grace 6s 16
Otherworld Return Gaining Death Rattle 2s Every 10 Death Rattle stacks gained by allies 4s 14
Wild Spirit Entering Wild 8s An ally enters the Wild state 4s 14
Elemental Echo Applying a Basic Elemental Debuff 4s An allied Elemental Reaction triggers 3s 13
Arcane Wisdom Gaining Awakening 2s An ally consumes Awakening 2s 11
Illusion Veil Triggering Punishment 8s An allied Punishment triggers 3s 7

Three things follow from this table:

  1. Timed nodes are only as good as their trigger rate. An 8-second Wild Spirit node on a unit that enters Wild early and often is close to a permanent buff. A 2-second Arcane node on a unit that rarely gains Awakening is close to nothing.
  2. Level 4 rewards faction-heavy teams. A Sanctum unit's level 4 node fires when any ally enters Grace, so more Grace-capable allies means more uptime. See the factions page and team builds.
  3. The faction used is fixed per Luminary. Venus (Elemental Echo and Wild Spirit) uses Wild Spirit. Vivienne (Sanctum Glory and Elemental Echo) uses Elemental Echo. Lilith and Tyrfing use Illusion Veil, not Wild Spirit. Check the character page first.

How to choose between two nodes

A few rules cover most decisions:

  • Prefer the stat the kit scales from. If a Priest's heals are a percentage of Max HP, HP nodes raise healing as well as survival. If a shield is a percentage of Attack, Attack nodes raise the shield too.
  • Crit nodes need a partner. 150 or 250 Crit only matters if the unit runs Crit Damage gear or has crit-triggered effects.
  • Haste needs cooldowns. If most of a kit is passive or Energy-driven, Haste does little.
  • Defensive picks are for PvP. Crit Resist, Magic Defense and Physical Defense pay off when you know what you face, such as Crit Resist against crit carries.

Level 6: the signature upgrades

Level 6 is never a stat. It changes a specific skill. Vermilion Bird's Life Flows Eternal gives her full Energy at the start of combat, so Nirvanic Rebirth can save her from the first fatal hit. Tyrfing's raises the trigger chance of Wildshade Phantom from 70% to 100%, and Himiko's makes her extra arrows fire every time. Others are smaller, such as Prometheus's, which extends the Nebula Chains steal by 4 seconds.

The table gives the default pick at each level; the notes explain why and when to switch.

Luminary Trigger Level 2 Level 3 Level 4 Level 5
Lilith Illusion (Punishment) Attack Attack Attack HP (PvP) or Attack
Poseidon Elemental Attack Attack Attack (damage) or Haste (support) Crit
Venus Wild Haste HP Haste HP
Vivienne Elemental Haste HP Attack HP
Artemis Arcane (Awakening) Attack Attack, or Crit with Crit Damage gear Attack Attack Speed
Loki Otherworld (Death Rattle) Attack Attack Haste (support) or Attack (damage) Haste
Athena Sanctum (Blessing, Grace) Block HP Haste Block
Morgana Elemental Haste HP Haste HP
Talos Arcane (Awakening) Attack Attack Attack Haste (support) or Crit (damage)
Vermilion Bird Elemental Attack Attack Attack Crit
Hela Sanctum (Blessing, Grace) Haste HP Haste HP
Prometheus Wild Block HP Haste HP

Lilith

Her Shadowblade Dance can trigger Punishment and comes round every 12 seconds, so the 8-second Illusion nodes are up most of the fight. Take Attack over Crit Damage at levels 2 and 4: her recommended gear has no Crit or Crit Damage set, and her talent's bonus damage cannot crit at all. At level 5, take HP for the Colosseum, since she teleports into the middle of the enemy team at the start. Her level 6 adds Attack Down and Crit Down to Shadowblade Dance, which fits her role as a damage amplifier.

Poseidon

Every one of her skills applies Cold, so the level 2 Elemental node refreshes almost constantly. Take Attack. At level 4, pick Attack if she is your damage dealer (Red 5★) and Haste if she is support, where faster Overdrives matter more. At level 5, Crit beats Haste: Ice Age and Frost Barrier have no cooldown, and her talent already gives Crit that the extra 150 builds on. Level 6 adds 5% Overdrive damage per Elemental Reaction, up to 50%.

Venus

Her level 2 node needs Venus herself to enter Wild, and nothing in her own kit does that, so treat level 2 as minor and take Haste. Her heals are a percentage of Max HP (Heart Seed heals 21% to 37% of her Max HP), so HP at levels 3 and 5 raises healing as well as survival. In Wild teams her level 4 node fires each time an ally enters Wild, and all three of her active skills have cooldowns, so take Haste. Level 6 makes Heavensong shield allies of her own faction for 30% of their Max HP, a reason to field her in a faction-pure team.

Vivienne

Her Water Bomb applies Cold, which triggers the level 2 node; take Haste. Level 4 is where she differs from other Priests: her healing and the Attack bonus she gives the possessed ally are both based on her own Attack, so take Attack, which Elemental teams trigger often. Take HP at levels 3 and 5.

Artemis

Arcane windows last only 2 seconds, so take Attack at levels 2 and 4; her arrows scale on it. At level 3, Attack is the safe choice; switch to Crit if you run her Crit Damage build. At level 5, Attack Speed helps the basic attacks she makes in Full Moon and with Sharpshooter; Magic Defense is the PvP alternative. Level 6 gives all allied ranged Luminaries Crit Up whenever she enters Darkmoon, which both her Overdrive and her Strigine Leap passive do.

Loki

His enhanced Curse Blast already gains 1,500 Crit against a marked target, which makes the level 2 Crit option partly redundant, so take Attack. At Red 1★ he is a support, so take Haste at levels 4 and 5 to Seal more often (Soul Chain has a 14-second cooldown). On a damage build from Red 3★, switch level 4 to Attack. Otherworld teams supply the Death Rattle stacks; Hela's Soul Lamp, for example, grants one per second. Level 6 steals 25 Haste from every target he Seals.

Athena

Take Block at level 2 and level 5: her talent adds Block, and her first recommended build uses the Valiant set, so the nodes stack toward a real block chance. Switch level 2 to Crit Resist against crit-heavy PvP teams. HP at level 3 grows her Martial Verdict shield, which is a percentage of Max HP. Haste at level 4 brings her taunt and her Fervor source round sooner. Level 6 makes Counter Helix cast faster and gives her basic attacks a 40% chance to trigger it.

Morgana

Her skills apply Cold, so level 2 fires often. Take Haste at levels 2 and 4, since her value is in casting often. Her talent raises her HP by 25% to 57% and Tidal Ring heals a percentage of her Max HP, so take HP at levels 3 and 5.

Talos

His Directive: Shield is a percentage of his Attack, so Attack raises both his damage and his shield. Take it at levels 2, 3 and 4; the 2-second Arcane windows make the Haste option at level 4 weak anyway. At level 5, match the subclass: Haste with Astrologer (support), Crit with Grand Archmage (damage), whose stacks build on crits. Level 6 makes Directive: Shield also grant Excitement.

Vermilion Bird

She applies Burn with her Overdrive and Feather Fan, so the level 2 node stays up; take Attack, and Attack again at 3 and 4, since her biggest hits come from triggers and Energy rather than cooldowns. At level 5, take Crit with her Crit Damage builds. Her level 6 (full Energy at the start) is one of the strongest on the roster.

Hela

Void Prison's true damage is capped at a multiple of her Max HP, and Soul Lamp heals a percentage of her Max HP, so HP at levels 3 and 5 adds damage and healing. Take Haste at levels 2 and 4: Soul Lamp has a 6-second cooldown and Grace triggers are common in Sanctum teams. Level 6 deepens Realm of the Deceased by another 45% Crit Damage cut on the target and 45% Crit Damage for allies hitting it.

Prometheus

His talent already cuts enemy Crit Damage and caps the Crit Damage of anyone who crits him, so Crit Resist overlaps with what he has. Take Block at level 2; it fires for 8 seconds each time he enters Wild. His shields and heals scale on Max HP, so HP at levels 3 and 5. Haste at level 4 speeds up Nebula Chains.

FAQ

How many Divinity levels does a Luminary have?

Six. Level 1 and level 6 are fixed nodes. Levels 2 to 5 each offer a choice between two nodes.

What does the faction name on a Divinity node mean?

It tells you the trigger. Illusion nodes fire on Punishment, Wild nodes on entering Wild, Sanctum nodes on Blessing Buffs and Grace, Elemental nodes on elemental debuffs and reactions, Arcane nodes on Awakening, and Otherworld nodes on Death Rattle.

Do all Luminaries of the same class get the same Divinity stats?

Yes. All 75 Luminaries with Divinity data follow their class template. What changes between them is the faction trigger on levels 2 and 4 and the level 6 signature node.

Should I take Attack or Crit on a carry?

Attack, unless the unit runs Crit Damage gear or has crit-based effects. A 150 Crit node is only 10% crit rate, and without Crit Damage support it adds little.

Why does Venus have Wild nodes when she is also Elemental Echo?

Each Luminary uses only one of its two factions for Divinity. Venus uses Wild Spirit, so her level 4 node fires when Wild allies enter the Wild state.
