Death Lash

S2 · Ultimate Skill · 15s cooldown

If the target is in the Withering Thorn status, each instance of damage additionally applies a random Stat Debuff status. Grants 1 stack of Death Rattle when the Vine disappears.

If there are targets with the Withering Thorn status on the field, this skill prioritizes them.

Flower Spear

When dealing damage with basic attacks or active skills to targets in the Withering Thorn status, additionally inflicts physical damage equal to 240-400% of Attack, and has a 20-36% chance to increase the target's Overdrive cooldown by 1 second and extend the duration of Withering Thorn by 2 seconds.

Whenever an ally is defeated, gains 1 stack of Death Rattle. For each stack of Death Rattle, the probability is increased by an additional 1.5%.

Corrupted Javelin

S4 · Special Skill · 13s cooldown

Deals physical damage equal to 625-1010% of own Attack to enemy units in a straight line and increases the target's next Overdrive Energy Cost by 1. For each time Punishment is triggered by an ally, reduces this skill's cooldown by 1 second.

When there is a target with the Withering Thorn status on the field, this skill is prioritized to be cast toward it.

Our Take on Ningrose

Ningrose is T2 in our list and the main carry for Illusion Veil. Poisonous Rose lets every basic attack and skill ignore shields and gives all allies 32-52% Bonus Damage against shielded enemies. Corrupting Decay hits a single target for 720-1320% of Attack, and when it triggers Punishment it adds 80-120% of Attack multiplied by the target's current Overdrive cost, doubled at talent node 4. That is why Ningrose sits next to Atanith, Artemis and Pompey, who all push enemy costs up. Withering Thorn then marks the target for Flower Spear's extra damage and Death Lash's Stat Debuffs. Diamond rank and Divinity 3 on the exclusive relic are where the damage really jumps, so this is a heavy investment.

Strengths

  • +Poisonous Rose makes Ningrose's damage ignore shields and gives every ally 32-52% Bonus Damage against shielded enemies, plus another 35% for Ningrose at talent node 2.
  • +Corrupting Decay's Punishment bonus multiplies by the target's current Overdrive cost, and talent node 4 doubles it.
  • +Talent node 7 strips all buffs and any Overdrive cost reduction from the main target before Corrupting Decay hits.
  • +Corrupted Javelin raises the target's next Overdrive cost by 1 and loses 1 second of cooldown for every allied Punishment.

Weaknesses

  • −The biggest numbers need Punishment procs and high enemy costs, so Ningrose depends on Illusion teammates.
  • −Full strength needs Diamond rank plus Divinity 3 on the exclusive relic, a heavy cost.
  • −Damage is single-target; the area part of Corrupting Decay is only 240% of Attack until the level 6 divinity.
  • −Ningrose gets fewer chances to take the field than some carries, since many Illusion teams already run Artemis as main damage.

How to Play Ningrose

Ningrose belongs in the back row and casts after the cost raisers. Example Illusion teams cast Atanith right before Ningrose, or Artemis and Vermilion Bird before Ningrose, so Cursed Domain, Phantom Hunt or Flameshadow Rune have already pushed the target's Overdrive cost up when Corrupting Decay lands. Each extra point of cost adds to the Punishment hit, and talent node 4 doubles that addition. Withering Thorn is the second layer. Corrupting Decay applies it, basic attacks then prioritise that target with doubled range, Flower Spear adds 240-400% of Attack per hit on it, and Death Lash applies a random Stat Debuff with each of its 4 hits. Corrupted Javelin prefers the Thorn target too, so the whole kit focuses one enemy. With the exclusive relic at Red 6, the enemy Luminary or Dragon with the highest Attack in the same column starts the battle with Withering Thorn and loses 80% of its Bonus Damage. Against shield-heavy lineups, Poisonous Rose ignores every shield and lifts the whole team's damage, so Ningrose is a strong pick into teams built on Caesar or Xuanwu shields. For divinity, Illusion Attack Speed at level 2 and Illusion Attack at level 4 both trigger from Punishment, and Blighted Decay at level 6 raises the area damage to 600% of Attack. In the Holy King Contest, the single-target focus is a strength rather than a limit.

Good Teammates

  • Atanith (SSR) – Atanith raises the nearest enemy's Overdrive cost at battle start and again with Silent Judgment, and casts right before Ningrose in example teams, inflating the Punishment bonus.
  • Artemis (SSR EX) – Artemis's Phantom Hunt can raise each enemy's next Overdrive cost by 1, and Darkmoon Embrace gives ranged allies like Ningrose Haste and Bonus Damage.
  • Pompey (SSR+) – Pompey's Dominion Slash raises its target's next Overdrive cost at talent node 2 and is another Punishment source that shortens Corrupted Javelin's cooldown.
  • Lilith (SSR+) – Lilith inflicts Healing Down whenever an ally triggers Punishment, which Ningrose does often, and appears in most Illusion example teams with Ningrose.
  • Tyrfing (SSR+) – Tyrfing shares Illusion Veil and both units reward allied Punishment, Tyrfing with cheaper Overdrives and Ningrose with a shorter Corrupted Javelin cooldown.

Keywords in brackets are explained in the status effect glossary.

Should You Invest?

Ningrose needs Diamond rank, which takes 18 copies, and Divinity 3 on the exclusive relic, Scarlet Poison Stamen, for the damage jump. That Divinity 3 effect adds true damage equal to 200% of the target's Attack to Corrupted Javelin against buffless targets and stacks 30% Attack per cast. Until then, Star Crystal Greatsword is the fallback. Take Illusion Attack Speed at divinity level 2, Attack Enhancement at 3, Illusion Attack at 4, Attack Speed Enhancement at 5 and Blighted Decay at 6. Gear is the Crit Damage or Attack Speed set, or the Attack set once you own the exclusive relic. Sharpshooter is the subclass. Free-to-play players should only commit if Illusion Veil is their main faction.

Ningrose FAQ

Is Ningrose worth pulling?
If Illusion Veil is your main faction, yes, as its single-target main carry. The catch is cost: Diamond rank and Divinity 3 on the exclusive relic are where the damage jumps, so a partial build feels much weaker.
Why is Ningrose paired with Atanith?
Corrupting Decay's Punishment bonus adds 80-120% of Attack times the target's current Overdrive cost. Atanith raises enemy costs at battle start and with Silent Judgment, and casts before Ningrose in example teams, so each Punishment hit is larger.
What is the best relic for Ningrose?
Scarlet Poison Stamen, the exclusive relic. It adds 15% Physical Defense ignore, lets Death Lash trigger Punishment and apply Buff Block, puts Withering Thorn on the top enemy attacker in the same column at battle start, and at Divinity 3 adds true damage to Corrupted Javelin.
Is Ningrose good against shield teams?
Very. Poisonous Rose makes all of Ningrose's damage ignore shields and gives every ally 32-52% Bonus Damage against shielded enemies, with another 35% for Ningrose at talent node 2.
