Dragon Traveler Best Teams by Faction 2026: Lineups and Order
The best Dragon Traveler teams for every faction in late 2026, with Overdrive order, why each lineup works, budget substitutes and picks for each game mode.

Quick answer: Build one faction to six strong members before branching out. The best lineups in late 2026 are Wild Spirit around Venus, Lilith and Tyrfing; Illusion Veil around Artemis, Vermilion Bird and Morgana; Arcane Wisdom around Artemis, Himiko and Talos; Sanctum Glory around Apollo for bosses or Mimir and Xuanwu for PvP; Otherworld Return around Asmodeus and Loki summons; and Elemental Echo around Vermilion Bird, Morgana and Thor. Each section below gives the Overdrive order, the reason it works and a cheaper version.
Key takeaways
- Overdrive order matters as much as the lineup. Buffers and debuffers go first, and carries cast into the window they create.
- Most 2026 kits reward allies who share a keyword: Punishment, Echo of Pain and Wild, Elemental Reactions, summons or Grace.
- Trial Realms, Time Rift Crusade bosses, Cloudborne War and the Tower of Babel all limit you by faction, so depth in one faction pays off in several modes.
- Each faction has a budget lineup built from starters, shop units and standard SSR or SSR+ units.
- All lineups are also on our teams page, and placements come from our tier list.
How to read the lineups
Formations have a back, middle and front column. As a rule of thumb the tank goes in front, with ranged carries and priests behind. Some supports, such as Poseidon or Azure Dragon, often sit in the middle. Two kits care about columns. Vivienne possesses the highest-Attack ally in her column at battle start, and Hitomi links to the highest-Attack ally in hers. Place the carry you want buffed in the same column.
The Overdrive order lists who should cast first in the opening rotation. In modes that allow manual casting, follow it for the first rotation and adjust after that.
Wild Spirit
Echo of Pain (PvE and PvP)
| Role | Luminary |
|---|---|
| Tank | Athena |
| Main carry | Tyrfing |
| Sub carry | Himiko |
| Flex | Lilith |
| Support | Talos |
| Priest | Venus |
Overdrive order: Athena > Venus > Himiko > Lilith > Tyrfing > Talos
Athena's 8-second AoE taunt gathers the enemy and absorbs the opening. Venus then equalises HP, cleanses and grants Divine Melody damage reduction. Himiko binds two targets, so damage on one also hits the other. Lilith spreads Echo of Pain, and from then on every hit by Tyrfing or Himiko on a marked enemy makes Lilith deal a multiple of it to all marked enemies. Tyrfing transforms into Bloodferno Form after those debuffs are up. Talos casts last because her Directive: Recharge keeps handing cooldown back to the others.
The whole team is Wild Spirit, which also covers the Wild Spirit Trial Realm.
Substitutes: Prometheus for Athena against crit teams; Jing for Himiko for more single-target damage; Dvalin for Talos if dives kill your back line.
Budget Wild Spirit: Rage team
Oberonnie, Asteros, Siegfried, Huginn & Muninn, Nanalie, Chiron.
Overdrive order: Oberonnie > Chiron > Nanalie > Asteros > Siegfried > Huginn & Muninn
Every carry here gets stronger in Wild, and Wild comes from Rage gained as HP drops. Chiron's All or Nothing costs the target 30% of their HP, which pushes them towards Wild, then heals the group and gives Wild allies 25% Attack Speed. Nanalie hands Excitement and Rage to the highest-Rage ally. Oberonnie and Siegfried are starters, so this team costs very little.
Illusion Veil
Darkmoon Burn (PvP)
| Role | Luminary |
|---|---|
| Tank | Caesar |
| Main carry | Vermilion Bird |
| Sub carry | Artemis |
| Flex | Lilith |
| Support | Poseidon |
| Priest | Morgana |
Overdrive order: Artemis > Vermilion Bird > Morgana > Lilith
Artemis opens so that every ranged ally has 25 Haste and her Bonus Damage buff for the next 6 seconds. Vermilion Bird casts Brahma's Fire Dance into that window and applies Burn three times. Morgana channels next and turns each ally Burn into Cold, which forces Elemental Reactions. Those reactions build Vermilion Bird's Scorching Sun stacks and give the team Overdrive points back. Lilith casts last to Silence targets already carrying Echo of Pain. Caesar's barrier eats up to 20 projectiles, and Poseidon's Frost Barrier saves a carry from lethal damage, twice with her talent.
Substitutes: Pompey for Caesar against melee; Ningrose for Lilith against shield teams, because her attacks ignore shields; Atanith for Poseidon.
Punishment with Arachne (Tower of Babel Trial)
Pompey, Arachne, Tyrfing, Lilith, Artemis, Atanith.
Overdrive order: Atanith > Pompey > Lilith > Arachne > Tyrfing > Artemis
This is an early build: Arachne arrived on 22 October and no lineups with her have been recorded yet. Each ally Punishment adds a Web stack to her target, so the team is packed with Punishment sources. Arachne casts once her target is cocooned, because her transformation costs nothing then. More detail is in our Arachne guide.
Budget Illusion Veil: Overdrive tax
Herman, Huginn & Muninn, Nemesis, Medusa, Tyrfing, Atanith.
Overdrive order: Atanith > Medusa > Nemesis > Huginn & Muninn > Tyrfing > Herman
This team runs on one interaction. Atanith raises enemy Overdrive costs, and Nemesis and Huginn & Muninn both hit harder against enemies whose Overdrive costs 4 or more. Nemesis gains 600-1080 Crit against them, and Huginn & Muninn ignore 15% Physical Defense, doubled on Scarred targets. Medusa's Mystic Serpent delays enemy Overdrive cooldowns by 3 seconds, and she can be exchanged in a shop, which makes her easy to star.
Arcane Wisdom
Moonlit Archers (PvE)
| Role | Luminary |
|---|---|
| Tank | Pompey |
| Main carry | Artemis |
| Sub carry | Himiko |
| Flex | Azure Dragon |
| Support | Talos |
| Support | Poseidon |
Overdrive order: Artemis > Himiko > Talos > Azure Dragon
Every Overdrive after Artemis's adds Awakening for Himiko, Talos and Azure Dragon. Himiko's Demon-Sealing Arrow doubles its damage when it consumes three Awakening stacks, so the order snowballs. Azure Dragon's opening team shield protects the archers, and her Overdrive adds her current shield value to its damage. Poseidon is the only non-Arcane member; swap her for Atanith in the Arcane Trial Realm.
Energy Tax (Arena)
Pompey, Ifrit, Vivienne, Poseidon, Scheherazade, Atanith.
Overdrive order: Atanith > Ifrit > Vivienne > Scheherazade
This lineup keeps launch-era Ifrit useful. Atanith raises the nearest enemy's Overdrive cost at battle start, then taxes every enemy with Silent Judgment. Ifrit's Hexagram hits the whole enemy team before they can respond. Vivienne possesses Ifrit, and Scheherazade lowers the cost of the most expensive ally Overdrive so the cycle comes round again quickly. The plan is to make the enemy cast late while you cast often.
Budget substitutes for both: Herman for Pompey; Nemesis for Himiko; Fenrir, a starter who refunds Overdrive points on kills, for Azure Dragon.
Sanctum Glory
Apollo Burst (bosses)
| Role | Luminary |
|---|---|
| Tank | Athena |
| Main carry | Apollo |
| Sub carry | Gabriel |
| Flex | Rin |
| Support | Vivienne |
| Priest | Scheherazade |
Overdrive order: Apollo > Gabriel > Rin > Vivienne > Scheherazade
Sanctum Glory runs on Grace, which needs Morale and Fervor. Apollo grants the back row Fervor at battle start, Gabriel's Benediction and Rin's crits hand out Morale, and Grace adds splash damage to Apollo's basic attacks. Apollo opens so her Sigil of Radiance stacks start early, and Gabriel and Rin then burst the marked boss.
Substitutes: Caesar for Athena; Ophelia for Scheherazade; Hela for Rin, since Death's Gaze adds Crit and damage against her target.
Shield Wall (PvP)
Xuanwu, Mimir, Gabriel, Azure Dragon, Vivienne, Hela.
Overdrive order: Xuanwu > Vivienne > Mimir > Hela > Azure Dragon > Gabriel
Mimir's damage adds a share of her current shield value to every hit, so everyone stacks shields on her. Xuanwu shields her, Vivienne possesses her, and Azure Dragon adds team shields. Hela's Void Prison then takes a key enemy out of the fight for 5 seconds.
Budget Sanctum Glory: Grace team
Helveil, Lorilin, Jormungandr, Melina, Scheherazade, Chiron.
Overdrive order: Helveil > Lorilin > Melina > Jormungandr > Scheherazade > Chiron
Lorilin hands out Fervor and Melina hands out Morale, Jormungandr gains Morale on every Overdrive, and Helveil gains Fervor from her Special Skill. That is enough to reach Grace without limited units. In Grace, Lorilin's attacks can Shock and Melina's Phoenix Talon is upgraded. Gabriel is the first upgrade when you get her.
Otherworld Return
Summon Swarm (PvE)
| Role | Luminary |
|---|---|
| Tank | Heidren |
| Main carry | Asmodeus |
| Sub carry | Loki |
| Flex | Faust |
| Support | Azure Dragon |
| Priest | Spimo |
Overdrive order: Asmodeus > Spimo > Loki > Heidren > Azure Dragon > Faust
Asmodeus summons three Elite Summons with Hellfire, which adds 50-90% Attack and AoE damage. Spimo casts next and copies the strongest summon. Loki seals the most dangerous enemy skill, and her Mirror Images join the swarm. Heidren's Rune Ring lowers enemy Damage Reduction by 30%, and at talent node 7 every allied summon inside it deals 100% additional damage with full Lifesteal. This is the most expensive archetype in the game: Asmodeus, Spimo and Heidren all want Diamond stars.
Substitutes: Anubis for Heidren; Jing for Faust, whose Sword Formation gives Elite Summons 90% Crit Damage; Hela for Azure Dragon.
Budget Otherworld Return: Death Rattle
Anubis, Faust, Gullveig, Medusa, Cleopatra, Caligula.
Overdrive order: Anubis > Faust > Gullveig > Medusa > Caligula > Cleopatra
Most of this team gains Death Rattle when allies fall, so it gets stronger as a fight drags on. Anubis gives ranged allies three Scales of damage reduction at battle start and survives lethal hits with her stacks. Cleopatra makes a Mummy with each non-Overdrive skill, and her Overdrive sends them all to self-destruct on one target. Caligula is the faction's main healer.
Elemental Echo
Reaction Chain (PvE)
| Role | Luminary |
|---|---|
| Tank | Salome |
| Main carry | Vermilion Bird |
| Sub carry | Thor |
| Flex | Zagreus |
| Support | Poseidon |
| Priest | Morgana |
Overdrive order: Vermilion Bird > Morgana > Zagreus > Thor > Salome > Poseidon
Every member applies an element. Vermilion Bird opens with Burn, and Morgana adds Cold on top for repeated reactions. Zagreus freezes chilled targets for large bonus damage. Thor and Salome add Shock, and Thor's Overdrive detonates her Thunder Goddess Sigils. Poseidon gains Energy from every reaction. Each Detonation or Evaporation adds a Scorching Sun stack, so Vermilion Bird's damage keeps climbing.
Substitutes: Dvalin for Salome, which is strong into Illusion Veil; Venus for Poseidon; Orion for Thor, adding Heal Block and a 6-second Punishment stun.
Budget version: Lorilin and Fenrir apply Shock, Telperion stacks Shock as a mage carry, Oberonnie applies Cold and shields the team, and Titania heals. Elemental Echo is the hardest faction to run cheaply because Morgana and Vermilion Bird are its engine.
Picks for other modes
Holy King Contest. Qualifiers are ten one-minute duels, a different Luminary each time, and finals send three units in turn. Bring units that win alone: Ares, Hades, Loki, Prometheus, Caesar, Pompey, Zagreus and Dvalin are all rated for it.
Temporal Rift. The season running to 26 November is auto only, and every Luminary is set to Tier 4 level 250. Use teams that need no manual timing. Our Wild Spirit auto team is Dvalin, Huginn & Muninn, Tyrfing, Lilith, Talos and Venus, with Venus casting first. Time Rift Crusade bosses only accept their own faction, so keep a second faction ready.
Cloudborne War. Each round names two factions, and both of your teams, dragon included, must come from them. The named factions change, so a second deep faction means more rounds where you can field two strong teams.
Tower of Babel Trial. The towers match the featured unit's two factions. From floor 16 each floor needs two different teams of that faction, so you need enough members of each faction to fill two teams. The featured Luminary and your dragon may appear in both.
FAQ
What is the best team for a new player?
Start with the budget Wild Spirit Rage team. Oberonnie and Siegfried are starters, and Asteros was a free log-in reward at the half-anniversary; if you missed her, put any Wild Spirit carry you own in her slot. Replace members with Tyrfing, Lilith and Venus as you get them.
Does Overdrive order really matter?
Yes. Many kits gain Awakening each time an ally casts an Overdrive, and buffs such as Artemis's Darkmoon Embrace last only 6 seconds. Casting the buffer after the carry wastes most of it.
Can I mix factions?
Yes for Arena and story stages, where several top lineups mix factions. Trial Realms, Time Rift Crusade, Cloudborne War and the Tower of Babel need a set number of one faction, so keep at least one pure team.
Which faction is cheapest to build?
Wild Spirit and Illusion Veil, because both have strong standard and starter units. Herman, Nemesis, Medusa, Atanith, Huginn & Muninn and Tyrfing make a working Illusion Veil team without any 2026 limited units.
Where does Arachne fit?
In Illusion Veil Punishment teams first, and in Wild Spirit teams second. She is an early T2 read for now.
