Quick answer: In late October 2026 the top of Dragon Traveler belongs to the four launch SSR EX gods (Athena, Hades, Ares, Poseidon), plus Loki, Venus and three 2026 SSR+ units: Morgana, Talos and Vermilion Bird. The launch-era damage dealers have slipped. Ifrit is now T2 and Marylis T3, replaced by Artemis, Talos, Jing, Mimir and Lilith. The teams that win are built around one mechanic: Punishment in Illusion Veil and Arcane Wisdom, Echo of Pain and Wild in Wild Spirit, Burn and Elemental Reactions in Elemental Echo, and summons in Otherworld Return.

Key takeaways

  • Nine Luminaries sit in our T0. Six are SSR EX; Morgana, Talos and Vermilion Bird are the SSR+ exceptions, and all three arrived between April and July 2026.
  • Every T0 god from the January launch is still T0. The launch T1 tier did not hold: Ifrit, Gabriel, Scheherazade and Atanith dropped to T2, while Marylis, Nemesis, Fenrir, Huginn & Muninn, Herman and Oberonnie are T3.
  • Faction identity matters more than raw stats now. Most 2026 kits pay off only when teammates trigger the same keyword.
  • For a new or returning account the safest investments are Venus, Athena and Artemis, because they fit several factions and do their job at low star levels.
  • Arachne (22 October) and Himiko (8 October) are the newest SSR+ units. Both sit at T2 for now, and Arachne's rating is an early read.

T1 Vivienne SSR+ Priest Sanctum Glory / Elemental Echo Possesses a carry: shield, Attack, control immunity
T1 Xuanwu SSR+ Guardian Sanctum Glory / Arcane Wisdom Team shields that deal damage

The pattern is clear. The SSR EX gods hold the top, but in each faction the newest limited SSR+ units now carry the damage and the support.

What changed since the January launch

At launch the top of the list was the four SSR EX gods. Below them was a group of damage dealers and utility units that most accounts could build: Ifrit, Gabriel, Fenrir, Scheherazade, Marylis, Nemesis, Atanith, Huginn & Muninn, Herman and Oberonnie. Ten months later, all four gods are still T0 and none of that second group is above T2.

Ifrit: from carry to specialist

Ifrit built her reputation on Hexagram, 16 fireballs that hit every enemy on the map. The catch is in the kit: after the first fireball, each one does only 20% damage to the same target. That makes it excellent wide chip damage for Slime Showdown and the high-tier Colosseum, and poor at killing a specific target. Her kit also wants a Diamond star level, which is heavy investment for a unit that now sits at T2.

The Arcane Wisdom carries that replaced her scale better. Artemis enters Full Moon for 60-132% more Attack and 200% Attack Speed. Talos shortens an ally's Overdrive cooldown while her Mech Spheres attack every half second. Mimir turns her stacked shields into extra damage on every hit. Ifrit still has a home in Arcane Wisdom control teams led by Atanith and Vivienne. She is no longer the reason to build Arcane.

Marylis: the first-week Wild carry

Marylis spends her own HP to deal damage, then lifesteals back once she enters Wild. That worked when Wild Spirit had few other options. Since then the faction gained Tyrfing, who steals the enemy's Healing Received and gets cheaper Overdrives whenever an ally triggers Punishment, as well as Hitomi, Jing and Asmodeus. Marylis is now T3 and a low star priority.

The support shuffle

Scheherazade was the default priest at launch because her Blessed Boon cuts Overdrive costs and her effects can fire two or three times. Cost reduction is now common, from gear sets as well as kits, so her edge is smaller. She is T2 and still a fine substitute. The priest slots at the top now go to Venus, Morgana, Vivienne (29 January) and Hela.

Atanith tells a similar story. She is still the best way to tax enemy Overdrives early in a fight. In PvP, though, an enemy Vivienne makes the carry she possesses immune to control, which takes much of the value out of Atanith's Silence.

Tanks got tankier

At launch, accounts fielded Herman or Oberonnie up front. 2026 added Pompey (February), Caesar (April), Xuanwu (June), Prometheus (September) and Salome (September). Each one tanks and also disrupts the enemy: Caesar's barrier blocks up to 20 projectiles, Pompey resets her Overdrive when an enemy carrying five Intimidation stacks dies, and Prometheus steals a single target's Attack, defences and Crit.

The archetypes that win

Most 2026 kits are written around a keyword that allies need to trigger. A team where three or four members share that keyword beats a team of individually stronger units that ignore each other.

Punishment (Illusion Veil and Arcane Wisdom)

Many skills carry a Punishment rider: a bonus effect such as a Stun, a Silence or extra damage when it triggers. The 2026 units also reward the whole team for triggering it.

  • Tyrfing: each ally Punishment cuts the Energy cost of Rage Reborn by 1, and her talent node 7 adds 15% to her next Overdrive per trigger, up to 90%.
  • Artemis: Phantom Hunt gains 8% damage per ally Punishment, up to 240%.
  • Ares: gains 20% Energy whenever an ally triggers Punishment.
  • Ningrose: Corrupted Javelin loses 1 second of cooldown per ally Punishment.
  • Arachne: her talent adds a stack of Web to the target of any ally Punishment.

Reliable Punishment sources are Atanith (Silent Judgment), Pompey, Caesar, Orion and Vermilion Bird. Lilith's secret skill adds Healing Down to every Punishment her allies land.

Echo of Pain and Wild (Wild Spirit)

Lilith is the hinge of Wild Spirit. Her skills have a 50% chance to apply Echo of Pain. While it is on a target, any ally's basic attack or active skill that hits it makes Lilith deal a multiple of that damage (310-460%) as magic damage to every enemy carrying Echo of Pain. Her talent node 7 adds 50% Bonus Damage for allies in Wild hitting those targets. She multiplies the team's damage, so she belongs next to fast-hitting Wild carries.

Wild itself comes from Rage, which most Wild Spirit units gain as they lose HP. The faction's supports exploit this. Venus heals an ally for 18% of Max HP when they enter Wild. Chiron gives Wild allies 25% Attack Speed. Hitomi strips Overdrive cost increases from a linked ally who enters Wild. A team that reaches Wild early snowballs.

Burn and Elemental Reactions (Elemental Echo)

Elemental Echo turned around when Morgana arrived in July. While she channels her Overdrive, any Burn or Shock an ally applies makes her add Cold to the same target, which forces Elemental Reactions. Vermilion Bird applies Burn three times with Brahma's Fire Dance and gains Scorching Sun stacks from Detonation and Evaporation, each stack adding 18-30% Bonus Damage. Thor and Salome supply Shock, Zagreus turns Cold into Freeze, and Poseidon gains Energy from every reaction. The exclusive relics for Vermilion Bird, Zagreus and Orion added in the 30 September update pushed this faction further.

Summons and Death Rattle (Otherworld Return)

Asmodeus summons three Elite Summons with Hellfire. Spimo copies the strongest summon and heals off summon attacks. Loki seals enemy skills while her Mirror Images copy her casts. Heidren gives summons 100% extra damage inside her Rune Ring at talent node 7. This is the most expensive archetype: several of its cores want Diamond stars.

Grace and shields (Sanctum Glory)

Sanctum Glory runs on Morale plus Fervor, which together grant Grace. Apollo is the boss carry. Rin and Gabriel supply Morale and burst. Mimir and Xuanwu turn shield value into damage. Ready-made lineups for every faction are on our teams page.

What to build for each mode

Mode What matters Units that stand out
Story, Wyrmbone Ruins Group control, sustain Athena, Venus, Poseidon, Artemis
Trial Realms A set number of one faction Your deepest faction's core six
Bosses and guild damage Single-target damage Apollo with Rin and Vivienne; Jing; Gabriel
Arena, Points League Opening control, Overdrive tax Poseidon, Artemis, Atanith, Pompey, Caesar
Holy King Contest 1v1 duels, then three units in turn Ares, Hades, Loki, Prometheus, Caesar, Zagreus
Colosseum Three units fight one at a time, ranked by clear time Jing, Lilith, Loki, Gabriel, Himiko, Hitomi
Temporal Rift Auto battles only; Crusade bosses are faction-locked Lilith and Tyrfing in Wild or Illusion teams
Cloudborne War Two teams, each from a named faction Two factions built to a similar level
Tower of Babel Trial The featured unit's two factions; two teams per faction from floor 16 Six or more units in each featured faction

The Holy King Contest rewards units that win alone. Qualifiers are ten one-minute duels with a different Luminary each time. That is why Ares, who can survive lethal damage twice and puts nearby enemies in Time Stasis, and Loki, who turns invincible and spawns Mirror Images below 50% HP, are rated so highly there.

Temporal Rift sets every Luminary to Tier 4 level 250 and only allows auto battle in the current season, so kits that need manual timing lose value. The current season runs to 26 November.

Where to put resources this month

  1. Pick a primary faction and finish its core. Most PvE gates (Trial Realms, Time Rift Crusade, Tower of Babel) count Luminaries of one faction.
  2. Take one flexible SSR EX. Venus fits Elemental and Wild, Athena fits Sanctum and Wild, and Artemis fits Arcane and Illusion. The 29 October Mythical Summon lets you choose among all eleven SSR EX Luminaries; our SSR EX pick guide ranks them.
  3. Treat new SSR+ units as faction purchases. Himiko is worth it for Wild Spirit and Arcane Wisdom accounts. Arachne is only for Wild Spirit and Illusion Veil accounts, and her value is still being worked out.
  4. Do not raise launch-era units past what you already have unless they fill a specific gap, such as Ifrit for Slime Showdown or Medusa for an Atanith control team.

FAQ

Is Ifrit still worth building in October 2026?

Only if you play Arcane Wisdom control teams or want a Slime Showdown specialist. Her Hexagram hits everything but deals only 20% damage after the first fireball on each target, and she wants a Diamond star level. Most accounts get more from Artemis, Talos or Mimir.

Which SSR+ units are T0?

Morgana, Talos and Vermilion Bird. Morgana and Vermilion Bird are the engine of Elemental Echo. Talos fits any Wild Spirit or Arcane Wisdom team because she cuts an ally's Overdrive cooldown at the start of battle and keeps doing it.

Do I need SSR EX units to clear content?

Not for most PvE. Faction depth gets you further in Trial Realms and Temporal Rift. SSR EX units matter most in the Holy King Contest and high Arena ranks, where Ares, Hades, Loki and Poseidon decide matches.

Where does Arachne fit in the meta?

She is a Wild Spirit and Illusion Veil mage at T2. Her Overdrive becomes free after she cocoons an enemy, and she ramps through Punishment and Web stacks. She launched on 22 October, so treat any ranking as provisional. See our Arachne guide.

Which faction is strongest right now?

No single faction wins everywhere. Illusion Veil, Wild Spirit and Sanctum Glory each have eight T0 or T1 members, Arcane Wisdom has seven, Otherworld Return six and Elemental Echo five. Elemental Echo looks thin on that count, but four of its five are T0 (Poseidon, Venus, Morgana, Vermilion Bird), so its core is very strong. Pick the faction where you already own the most cores.
