Our Take on Anubis
Anubis is an SSR Guardian built for long fights. His talent Heart's Balance turns [Deathrattle] stacks into lifelines, consuming 3 to block the first fatal hit and 7 to block the second, each time recovering 50% of Max HP. Descending Judgment deals magic damage equal to 7% of Max HP in a large circle and raises his Physical and Magic Defense by 25% for 10 seconds, and Sands of Solace gives every allied ranged Luminary 3 stacks of 12.5% Damage Reduction at battle start.
Strengths
- +Heart's Balance can stop up to two fatal hits (three at talent level 7), each followed by a 50% Max HP recovery.
- +Might of the Dunes adds 13% HP in battle and another 6% per Descending Judgment, up to 5 times.
- +Sands of Solace protects ranged allies from the first second of battle, and Sand Shield also covers the lowest-HP ally for 13% of his Max HP.
Weaknesses
- โ[Deathrattle] comes from allied defeats, so his first fatal-hit block needs 3 allies to have fallen first, unless Descending Judgment's 50% bonus-stack chance speeds this up.
- โHis damage is low, scaling on 7% of Max HP, and the text does not say how Sands of Solace's stacks are used up.
How to Play Anubis
Anubis holds the front row. Cast Descending Judgment as often as possible: each cast adds 6% HP (up to 5 stacks), refreshes the 25% defense buff, and during the buff each [Deathrattle] gain has a 50% chance to add an extra stack. Sand Shield covers him and the weakest ally. Talent level 4 is valuable because every consumed [Deathrattle] also grants a 4% Max HP shield. Level 7 adds a third fatal-hit block but costs 15 stacks, which only long fights will reach.
Good Teammates
- Lorilin (SSR) โ Lorilin is a ranged Archer who receives Sands of Solace's Damage Reduction, and Anubis's level 2 [Shock] from Descending Judgment adds an elemental-type debuff toward her Warp Light Crit bonus.
- Gullveig (SSR) โ Gullveig fights from range under Sands of Solace's protection, and her Soul Siphon heals the lowest-HP ally, often the front-line Anubis.
- Medusa (SSR) โ Medusa is a ranged Archer covered by Sands of Solace, and like Anubis she scales with [Deathrattle], so both fit the same attrition-style team.
Keywords in brackets are explained in the status effect glossary.
Should You Invest?
Anubis is an SSR rated T2 on this site. He is strongest in long PvE fights where [Deathrattle] builds up, and weaker in short fights where his lifelines may never come online. Treat him as a solid but specialized tank investment.
