Overview

Rin is an SSR+ Assassin from Sanctum Glory and Otherworld Return. Her skill crits grant Morale to the strongest Sanctum ally and her clone's crits grant Death Rattle to the strongest Otherworld ally, and Apollo belongs to both factions. That makes Rin the standard partner for Apollo, with heavy single-target burst of her own.

Rin Skills

Swallow Return

S1 · Overdrive · 18s cooldown

Performs two consecutive instant slashes on enemies within a rectangular area, dealing physical damage equal to 650-1170% of own Attack with each slash. At the end of the 2 slashes, applies a drag effect twice to a single target.

While casting this skill, becomes untargetable.

Phantom Martial Soul

S2 · Ultimate Skill · 20s cooldown

Unleashes different effects based on whether a Summon is present on the battlefield.

If no Summon is present, summons a Summon (only 1 can exist on the battlefield) and then retreats. Upon spawning, the Summon inflicts Taunt on enemies in a large circular area for 3s, while the caster becomes untargetable for 3s. The Summon inherits 75-105% of the caster's current Dodge and 100% of other stats, and possesses the skill Twin Heaven Shadowfall.

When the clone performs a basic attack, it applies Twin Heaven Sigil to the target.

If a Summon is present, charges toward it and absorbs it, restoring HP equal to 30-60% of Max HP and gaining Dodge Up.

Gale Blade Shadow

S3 · Secret Skill

When there are no Summon on the battlefield, each time a Blessing Buff is gained, reduces the cooldown of Phantom Martial Soul by 5s.

When there are Summon on the battlefield, each time a Death Rattle is gained, the Summon also gain 1 stack of Death Rattle, and both the caster and the Swordsmanship Clones gain 1 stack of Blade Shade, increasing Attack Speed by 10-18% per stack.

Twin Heaven Shadowfall

S4 · Special Skill · 7s cooldown

Leaps up and unleashes a slash, dealing physical damage equal to 630-930% of Attack to enemies within a large circular area and gaining a shield equal to 160-235% of Attack for 6s.

When possessing both Morale and Fervor, enters the Grace state. While in the Grace state, inflicts Hit Down and Physical Defense Down on the target.

Ranges such as 340-520% show the value at skill level 1 and at max level. Keywords are explained in the glossary.

Our Take on Rin

Rin is T2, and much of her rating comes from one teammate. Apollo is both Sanctum Glory and Otherworld Return, so Rin's talent sends Apollo Morale from Rin's skill crits and Death Rattle from her clone's basic-attack crits. Morale completes Apollo's Grace, and Death Rattle adds arrows to Solar Arrow Stream. Rin's own kit is strong too: Swallow Return slashes twice for 650-1170% of Attack each while she is untargetable, and Phantom Martial Soul summons a clone that taunts a large area and applies Twin Heaven Sigil. She is at her best in boss fights and Holy King Contest. If you run Apollo she is close to mandatory; if you do not, she is still a solid damage booster for teams without summons.

Strengths

  • +Her talent sends Morale to the top Sanctum Glory ally and Death Rattle to the top Otherworld Return ally, and node 4 adds one more target to each.
  • +She is untargetable during Swallow Return and for 3 seconds after summoning her clone, which taunts enemies in a large area for 3 seconds.
  • +Node 7 removes Next Overdrive Energy Cost Increase effects from her each time she casts Phantom Martial Soul, which blunts cost-raising teams.
  • +Twin Heaven Shadowfall has a 7-second cooldown and grants a shield of 160-235% of Attack, doubled in Grace by node 2.

Weaknesses

  • −Her value drops a lot outside Apollo teams.
  • −Apollo players are advised to take her to Diamond, which is expensive.
  • −Her defense leans on Dodge, which enemies with high Hit can counter.
  • −Phantom Martial Soul alternates between summoning and absorbing the clone, so half its casts remove the clone you may want to keep.

How to Play Rin

Rin fights in melee, but her kit keeps her untargetable at the riskiest moments. In the recorded Sanctum teams the Overdrive order is Apollo, Gabriel, Rin, Vivienne, Scheherazade: Rin's Swallow Return follows Apollo's opening so its two slashes and drag land on targets already under pressure, and node 7 makes Swallow Return apply Twin Heaven Sigil, the mark Apollo teams build their burst around. The first Phantom Martial Soul summons it; the next absorbs it for a 30-60% Max HP heal and Dodge Up. With the clone on the field, Gale Blade Shadow shares Death Rattle with it and gives both Blade Shade stacks for Attack Speed, and the clone's crits are what send Death Rattle to Apollo. Without a clone, every Blessing Buff cuts Phantom Martial Soul's cooldown by 5 seconds, and Way of the Gale at divinity level 6 adds another 5. In Apollo teams, keep the clone out most of the time. Her Morale comes from skill crits, so Crit matters more for her than for most supports. For divinity, take Attack Enhancement, Sanctum Attack or Sanctum Crit Damage at level 2, Crit Enhancement at level 3, Sanctum Crit Damage at level 4, Attack Enhancement at level 5 and Way of the Gale at level 6. In PvE she shines on bosses; in PvP, Holy King Contest is where she earns her slot.

Good Teammates

  • Apollo (SSR EX) – Apollo is both Sanctum Glory and Otherworld Return, so she receives both Rin's Morale for Grace and her clone's Death Rattle for extra Solar Arrow Stream arrows.
  • Gabriel (SSR+) – Shares both factions, casts just before Rin in the Sanctum order, and converts the Death Rattle Rin spreads into Overdrive damage through Celestial Awakening.
  • Hela (SSR EX) – Shares both factions; Death's Gaze raises allies' Crit and damage against marked targets, and Rin's Morale depends on landing crits.
  • Vivienne (SSR+) – Casts right after Rin in the recorded Sanctum teams, healing and shielding through possession while Rin's clone holds the taunt.

Keywords in brackets are explained in the status effect glossary.

Should You Invest?

Red 1★ (8 copies) is the minimum; Apollo players should aim for Diamond (18 copies), since Rin is a core piece of every Apollo team. Divinity: Attack Enhancement, Sanctum Crit Damage, Crit Enhancement, Sanctum Crit Damage, Attack Enhancement and Way of the Gale. Her exclusive relic, Rockflow Cut (SSR+, rated S), gives Fervor and 600 Evade at battle start, and its Divinity 3 effect spawns the clone with 8 Death Rattle stacks plus 60% Bonus Damage and Damage Reduction. Without it, Elven Quiver adds 750 Dodge. Subclass: Outlaw. Gear: Attack Speed with Frenzy and Judgment, or Evade with Swift Strike. Free players without Apollo can stop at Red 1★.

Rin FAQ

Do I need Rin for Apollo?
She is close to mandatory. Apollo is both Sanctum Glory and Otherworld Return, so Rin's talent gives her Morale for Grace and Death Rattle for extra arrows, and every recorded Apollo team includes Rin.
What star level does Rin need?
Red 1★ at least. If Apollo is your main carry, Diamond is recommended; without Apollo, there is little reason to go past Red 1★.
What is the best relic for Rin?
Rockflow Cut, her exclusive relic, rated S. Its Red 6 effect cuts enemy Crit Resist by 500 and Overdrive Damage Reduction by 40% around the clone for 8 seconds, and Divinity 3 spawns the clone with 8 Death Rattle stacks. Elven Quiver is the budget option.
Is Rin good without Apollo?
She is still a reasonable damage booster in teams without summons, with strong single-target burst from Swallow Return. Her support value is much lower, though, so she is not a priority without Apollo.
