Dragon Traveler Mythical Summon: Which SSR EX to Pick (Oct 2026)
Which SSR EX Luminary to select on Dragon Traveler's 29 October Mythical Summon: all eleven compared by role, account fit and stars, plus pity planning.

Quick answer: Most accounts should select Venus on the Mythical Summon running from 29 October to 12 November 2026. She is T0, fits every team, and keeps the whole team alive in both PvE and PvP. Pick Athena if PvE progress is your bottleneck, Artemis if you play Arcane Wisdom or Illusion Veil and want strong value at low stars, and Poseidon if you push Arena. Leave Thor, Hades and Ares for later unless you already know why you need them.
Key takeaways
- The banner runs 29 October 05:00 to 12 November 04:59 (UTC-5) and unlocks after main story stage 9-40.
- You choose one of eleven SSR EX Luminaries for the improved rate: Hela, Prometheus, Artemis, Thor, Loki, Ares, Apollo, Venus, Athena, Poseidon and Hades.
- Mythic Summoning Tickets hit hard pity at 41 pulls. A full cycle is 150 pulls.
- The When Moonlight Shines 7-Day Gifts hand out an SSR Ex Luminary Selection after seven days of check-ins. Plan your banner pick around it.
- Artemis does her job from Purple 3★. Venus, Hela and Prometheus want Red 1★. Apollo, Ares, Hades and Thor are big-spender picks.
How the 29 October Mythical Summon works
The banner is titled "An All-New SSR Ex Luminary Arrives". Before you pull, you select one SSR EX Luminary, and that unit gets the improved rate. Summon milestones pay staged rewards on top. Unlike the September version, which featured only Prometheus, Artemis, Poseidon and Ares, this run offers every SSR EX on the global server.
Three other parts of the same update affect your choice:
- 7-Day Gifts (When Moonlight Shines). Two check-in days give an avatar frame, and seven days give an SSR Ex Luminary Selection. The selection pool does not add SSR EX units released later.
- Moonwatch Journal. Daily log-ins and quests pay Colorful Balloons until 14 November. The Lunar Store sells Mythic Summoning Tickets and SSR Ex Shard Selections for them.
- Hela's shards in the Guild Auction. Goddess of Death's Memory (Hela's shards) is now in the Guild Auction. Sixty of them summon Hela, and the 8 to 15 October Puzzle Quest gave out five.
Together these give a free account two SSR EX targets this month: one from the selection and one from pulls. The best plan is to take two units that cover different gaps.
Every SSR EX compared
Tiers are from our tier list. The star notes come from the build guidance on each character page.
| Luminary | Tier | Class | Factions | Role | Star target | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Venus | T0 | Priest | Elemental Echo / Wild Spirit | Team heal, cleanse, damage reduction | Red 1★ | Best pick for most accounts |
| Athena | T0 | Guardian | Sanctum Glory / Wild Spirit | AoE taunt, Life Link | No set bar | Best PvE pick |
| Poseidon | T0 | Mage | Elemental Echo / Illusion Veil | Saves allies from death, cuts Magic Defense | Red 1★ support, Red 5★ damage | Best PvP pick |
| Loki | T0 | Mage | Otherworld Return / Wild Spirit | Seals skills, Mirror Images | Red 1★ support, Red 5★ damage | Only for summon teams |
| Ares | T0 | Warrior | Arcane Wisdom / Illusion Veil | Survives twice, Time Stasis | Big-spender unit | Holy King Contest specialist |
| Hades | T0 | Assassin | Otherworld Return / Arcane Wisdom | Executes, refunds Overdrive | Big-spender unit | Holy King Contest specialist |
| Artemis | T1 | Archer | Arcane Wisdom / Illusion Veil | Ranged team haste and damage | Purple 3★, Red 1★ | Best value at low stars |
| Hela | T1 | Priest | Sanctum Glory / Otherworld Return | Banish, Death's Gaze | Red 1★ | Collect via shards if you can |
| Apollo | T1 | Archer | Sanctum Glory / Otherworld Return | Single-target boss damage | Big-spender unit | Sanctum boss accounts only |
| Prometheus | T2 | Guardian | Wild Spirit / Arcane Wisdom | Stat steal, Crit Damage cap | Red 1★ | Good second tank, not a first pick |
| Thor | T2 | Warrior | Sanctum Glory / Elemental Echo | Shock and Detonation | Big-spender unit | Skip unless Elemental is complete |
Venus: the safe answer
Venus fixes the most common reason a team loses, which is one unit dying early. Heavensong sets every ally to the same HP and then heals 25-41% of Max HP. Her talent node 3 adds a full cleanse of control and debuffs plus five seconds of Control Immunity. Every heal also grants Divine Melody, 26-46% Damage Reduction that doubles below half HP. The first melee Luminary to hit her is Charmed for at least 9 seconds. She fits Elemental Echo and Wild Spirit directly, and her kit has no faction condition, so she works in any team. Red 1★ is the suggested floor.
Athena: if you are stuck in PvE
Athena taunts every enemy in a large circle for 8 seconds and shields herself for 60-100% of Max HP. When an ally falls below 30% HP, Life Link takes 60% of their damage and gives them 40-72% Damage Reduction. On stages where the enemy has more units than you can kill quickly, an 8-second AoE taunt is the strongest control in the game. She is the lead tank for both Sanctum Glory Apollo teams and Wild Spirit Venus teams.
Poseidon: if you push Arena
Poseidon is the reason many PvP fights end the way they do. Frost Barrier freezes an ally who takes lethal damage, makes them immune to it and heals them. Talent node 3 lets it trigger a second time, and while she is alive every enemy has 20% less Magic Defense. Tide of the Abyss also raises the next Overdrive cost of low-cost enemies. She appears in Arcane Wisdom, Illusion Veil and Elemental Echo lineups. At Red 1★ she is a support; Red 5★ turns her into a damage dealer.
Artemis: the best value at low stars
Artemis is the pick for accounts that cannot take a unit to Red stars. At battle start she puts up to four ranged allies into Darkmoon (talent node 3), and her Overdrive gives every ranged ally 25 Haste and 25-52% Bonus Damage for 6 seconds. Her Phantom Hunt and Strigine Leap add the energy-cost tax and Silence that Arcane Wisdom and Illusion Veil want. Her low bar is Purple 3★: four copies plus four 6★ fodder, the cheapest useful threshold on this list. If your carries are archers or mages in those two factions, she lifts all of them.
Loki: only with a summon core
Loki seals an enemy's Special Skill, and with talent node 4 the seal lasts until she dies. She becomes invincible and spawns Mirror Images when she first drops below 50% HP, and in Wild those images copy her skills. She is rated first in the Holy King Contest and is the partner for Asmodeus and Spimo. Without those two she is a good mage, not a great one.
Ares and Hades: duel specialists
Ares survives lethal damage twice with talent node 3. Each time she puts enemies in a large area into Time Stasis for 5 seconds and heals with her Energy. Hades resets Final Verdict and gains 4 Overdrive Points when it kills, and she blocks fatal damage with Death Rattle. Both shine in one-on-one Holy King Contest matches. In six-against-six PvE, neither carries a team the way Venus or Athena supports one. Their build guidance marks both as big-spender units.
Hela: get her from shards if possible
Hela opens fights with Soul Hook Scythe, which stuns and drags the farthest enemy, and Void Prison removes a target for 5 seconds (8 seconds at talent node 4) before dealing true damage based on current HP. Death's Gaze gives allies 300-480 Crit and 20-32% more damage against marked targets. She is excellent in Sanctum Glory and Otherworld Return. She is also the only SSR EX you can build toward from the Guild Auction, so a guild-active player can spend the banner pick elsewhere.
Apollo: a boss carry with a long shopping list
Apollo fires 30 arrows with her Overdrive, adds 10 more per five Death Rattle stacks, and Sigil of Radiance adds Max-HP damage to every skill hit. She tops boss damage, but she reaches that only with Rin, Gabriel and Vivienne around her. Pick her only if that Sanctum Glory core is already built.
Prometheus: a strong second tank
Prometheus is the newest SSR EX (3 September). Nebula Chains steals 20% Attack, 20% of both defences, 300 Crit, Dodge and Block, and 30% Crit Damage from one target. Her talent cuts every enemy's Crit Damage by 32-50% and caps the Crit Damage of any hit on her. That is a hard counter to crit carries such as Jing. She is T2 because Athena does the main tank job better, but she is a good selection-box choice for a Wild Spirit or Arcane Wisdom player who already owns Athena.
Thor: last on the list
Thor applies Shock, stacks Thunder Goddess Sigils and detonates them with her Overdrive. Outside an Elemental Echo team with Morgana and Vermilion Bird, she has little to do. Her build guidance marks her as a big-spender unit.
Matching a pick to your account
| Your account | Banner pick | Selection box |
|---|---|---|
| New or returning, no SSR EX | Venus | Athena |
| Stuck on story or Wyrmbone Ruins | Athena | Venus |
| Arcane Wisdom or Illusion Veil carries | Artemis | Poseidon or Venus |
| Arena or Points League focus | Poseidon | Venus or Artemis |
| Otherworld summon team (Asmodeus, Spimo) | Loki | Venus |
| Sanctum Apollo core already built | Apollo | Athena |
| Holy King Contest regular, deep account | Ares or Hades | Loki |
The general rule: use the guaranteed selection for the unit you would be least happy to miss, and pull for the unit where extra copies help most. Copies matter most for Poseidon and Loki, whose role shifts from support at Red 1★ to damage at Red 5★.
Pity planning
Mythic Summoning Tickets follow these numbers:
- Hard pity: 41 pulls. You are guaranteed a drop by then.
- Cycle: 150 pulls. Each pull also gives one shard, so a full cycle equals 150 shards.
- Bellflowers. On average you collect about 600 Bellflowers per 60 pulls, and 600 Bellflowers cover 12 shard conversions.
Plan in blocks of 41. If you have fewer than 41 pulls' worth of tickets and Diamonds, you are relying on luck, and the honest choice is to save. Check the banner's own details screen to confirm whether your progress carries into a later Mythical Summon before committing a partial block.
Star targets and what they cost
These are cumulative totals for one Luminary.
| Star level | 5★ copies | 6★ fodder |
|---|---|---|
| 6★ | 2 | 0 |
| Purple 3★ | 4 | 4 |
| Red 1★ | 8 | 16 |
| Red 5★ | 12 | 31 |
| Diamond | 18 | 40 |
Red 1★ needs eight copies, so a free player will not reach it on one banner. That is why Artemis, useful at four copies, is such a strong pick for free accounts. Venus's Heavensong works from her first copy, even though Red 1★ is the suggested floor.
Free pulls to collect before 12 November
- Seven days of 7-Day Gifts check-ins for the SSR Ex Luminary Selection.
- Colorful Balloons from the Moonwatch Journal and idle patrols, spent on Mythic tickets and SSR Ex Shard Selections in the Lunar Store.
- 300 Diamonds of maintenance compensation from 28 October.

FAQ
Which SSR EX is best for free-to-play players?
Venus for the banner pick, and Athena or Artemis from the free selection. Venus and Athena help every faction they touch. Artemis is useful at Purple 3★, which a free account can actually reach.
Can I pick Hela on this Mythical Summon?
Yes. Hela is one of the eleven selectable units. Because her shards are also sold in the Guild Auction and 60 of them summon her, many players will pick someone else and collect Hela through the guild.
Is Prometheus worth selecting now that she is newer than the others?
She is a good second tank and a real counter to crit-damage teams, but she sits at T2. Pick her if you already own Athena and play Wild Spirit or Arcane Wisdom.
How many pulls until I am guaranteed a Luminary?
Hard pity on Mythic Summoning Tickets is 41 pulls. A full cycle is 150 pulls, and each pull also gives a shard.
Should I pull on Arachne or the Mythical Summon?
The Mythical Summon, for almost everyone. Arachne is a T2 faction unit, and the Superheroine in Training event offers a copy of her as a reward. Our Arachne guide covers who should pull anyway.
